Location Intelligence Platform for Smarter Location Decisions

Contact for Location Intelligence
Every organisation with a physical presence, a store, a dealership, or a site, needs to know where to operate and how to perform.

Location intelligence, is what turns geographic data into the insight needed to make those decisions with confidence. GMAP provides location intelligence software, market-leading data and hands-on location strategy consultancy

Whether you’re analysing sites in-house or working with our consultants on a wider network strategy, we give you the tools and expertise to make informed, evidence-based location decisions.

Who is Location Intelligence For?

GMAP's location intelligence tools and services are used by organisations that need to make strategic decisions about where they operate. They’re used across a range of sectors and business functions, including:
  • Property and real estate - assess sites with confidence
  • Network and location planning - shape strategies around real-world demand
  • Marketing - profile customers and target acquisition effectively
  • Finance and commercial - evaluate network performance with evidence
  • Logistics and operations - understand coverage and optimise distribution
If your organisation has a physical network, and the decisions you make about that network carry long-term financial consequences, GMAP's location intelligence tools and consultancy are built for you.

What Location Intelligence Helps You Do

There is no shortage of data available to businesses today. The challenge is knowing which questions to ask and having the right tools and expertise to answer them reliably.
GMAP’s location intelligence tools and services do exactly that - giving organisations the clarity to make smarter, evidence-based location choices. In practice, that means being able to:
  • Understand where customers are coming from and how catchments behave across a network
  • Compare each site to its true market potential, not averages
  • Identify gaps in coverage, underserved areas, and genuine opportunities for growth
  • Test new locations rigorously before investing
  • Develop location strategies that are clear, defensible, and repeatable
  • Make network decisions consistently, backed by evidence rather than instinct
GMAP’s location intelligence platform delivers a clear picture of opportunity, risk, and where to act next.

Location Intelligence Software from GMAP

GMAP offers two software tools, each designed for different types of location analysis. Many clients use both to get a complete view of their networks.

MVPLUS - location intelligence software for site and location analysis

MVPLUS is GMAP’s cloud-based Geographical Information System (GIS) designed for business decision-makers. It lets teams carry out site and location analysis independently, on demand, without relying on external support for every question.
With MVPLUS, users can:
  • Import and map customer, outlet, or operational data
  • Run drive-time and distance-based catchment analysis to define territories
  • Access unlimited map layers and geographic variables
  • Compare locations using market potential, demographics, and competitive context
  • Overlay consumer, competitor, and market data for richer analysis
  • Collaborate securely across multiple users and geographies
MVPLUS is used across property, marketing, strategy, logistics, and finance teams in more than 60 countries. Every licence comes with full training and ongoing support from GMAP’s experts.

IMPACT - location planning tool for network scenario modelling

IMPACT is GMAP’s tool for scenario modelling. While MVPLUS supports ongoing site analysis, IMPACT is designed to quantify the likely effect of opening or closing a site on your wider network.
It uses a custom Spatial Interaction Model, calibrated to each client’s network, catchments, and market context. Once set up, teams can run unlimited scenarios in-house.

With IMPACT, organisations can:
  • Test single or multiple network changes
  • Quantify impacts on existing sites
  • Access results instantly via an interactive Power BI dashboard
  • Compare scenarios to evaluate strategic options
  • Make site feasibility and network decisions based on modelled evidence

Location Analysis Tools and Data

The value of location intelligence software depends entirely on the quality of data inside it. GMAP provides a range of proprietary and licensed datasets that integrate directly into MVPLUS and IMPACT, giving organisations a fuller view of their market context:
  • CAMEO consumer classifications - available across 36 countries, helping organisations understand the profile of any area and where target customers are concentrated
  • DVLA vehicle registration data - covering new registrations, used transactions, and the full UK vehicle parc, supporting automotive planning and demand analysis
  • RetailVision - detailed insight into UK retail centres, store locations, and performance benchmarks
  • LeisureVision - coverage of food, beverage, entertainment, and leisure destinations across the UK
  • Competitor and points-of-interest data - providing real competitive context within catchment and territory analysis

Location Intelligence Reporting and Business Intelligence

Alongside MVPLUS and IMPACT, GMAP provides tailored reporting and business intelligence services that turn location and market data into ongoing performance insight.
This includes:
  • Sales reporting and target setting - measuring how each site performs over time, with targets aligned to local market potential
  • Interactive dashboard reporting - live dashboards that bring together sales, customer, and operational data in a clear, shareable format
  • The Used Car Report - a dashboard tool that combines DVLA transaction data with client sales data to assess how a dealer network is performing against territory demand and inform vehicle stocking decisions
  • The RetailVision Dashboard - built on our RetailVision dataset, which maps retail centres, store locations, trade areas, and shopping flows, allowing organisations to understand retail performance, catchments, and competitive positioning across markets
These tools ensure location intelligence continues to inform day-to-day performance management, long after a network strategy has been defined.

FAQs

What is location intelligence, and how is it different from mapping?

Mapping shows where things are, while location intelligence shows why performance varies and what actions to take. Our tools combine GIS software, market data, and analytical expertise to identify opportunities and support network decisions, rather than just visualising data.

What is the difference between MVPLUS and IMPACT?

MVPLUS is a self-serve GIS tool for day-to-day location analysis. It lets you import your data, run catchment analysis, explore your network, and understand your market. IMPACT is a scenario modelling tool that uses a custom Spatial Interaction Model built by GMAP to predict how opening or closing a site will affect your network.
In short: MVPLUS supports ongoing analysis, while IMPACT is used for specific network decisions that require rigorous modelling. Many clients use both together.

Do I need GIS or technical expertise to use GMAP's software?

No. MVPLUS and IMPACT are designed for business decision-makers across property, marketing, finance, and operations. MVPLUS is built to be intuitive for non-technical users, and every licence includes training plus ongoing support from our team.

Can I use GMAP's software with my own data?

Yes. MVPLUS lets you import your own customer, outlet, or operational data and analyse it alongside our other datasets. IMPACT is built around your network data, so your information drives every scenario.

Is GMAP's software available internationally?

Yes - MVPLUS and IMPACT are cloud-based and can be accessed worldwide. We’ve supported clients in over 60 countries, and datasets like CAMEO geodemographics are available internationally to ensure consistent analysis across markets.
