Our core framework of analysis is a key starting point to all our client INPs:
  • Gain Market Insight

We help you understand your market by evaluating:

    • What is your market definition?
    • What is the market size, i.e. demand (spend) in your sector?
    • What demand do you capture? What is your Market Share?
    • How are you performing compared to your competitors?
  • Predict Market Landscape

We help you predict what will happen in the future marketplace by understanding:

    • What opportunities and challenges face your retail network?
    • How will demand change and how will this affect you?
    • How will retail destinations change in the future?
  • Locate Your Target Market

We help you get to know your customers better by understanding:

    • What are your customer behaviours, attitudes and motivations?
    • What are your customer demographic profiles (CAMEO)?
    • Who are your prospective customers?
  • Plan & Optimise Your Network

We help you make the correct location decisions and optimise your retail network’s performance by assessing:

    • Where is untapped demand? Where are your key retail destinations (Centres & Trade Zones) for investment?
    • Distance and drive time catchment
    • How do your locations benchmark against each other? How do they benchmark against your competitor’s locations?
    • How could you optimise formats based on your location and customer types?
    • Where could you divest? How can you retain customers in these locations?
    • What is the impact of future network or environmental change?

Critical Success Scorecards

Critical Success Scorecards (CSS) can provide you with additional insight to your INP. Our CSS modelling can be used to correlate indicators. For example, CSS can correlate various factors affecting a store’s performance with store sales. Any number of financial indicators may be incorporated into this analysis, including:

Location Factors
Affinity stores, competitor stores, location position vs the rest of the trade zone, location type (i.e. in a shopping centre), pedestrian traffic, trade zone attraction

Demand Factors
Potential demand (spend) at different geographies (i.e. city, cluster or building), retail maturity, day time population

Competition Factors
Product mix, brand mix, competitor stores in building or vicinity

Facility Factors
Size, frontage, operations, product mix, pitch quality of existing stores

Sales Reporting & Targets

We can help you create geographical insight into your sales, customer and company data to understand how each of the points in your network are performing on a continual basis.

This can help you to target the right locations and seek the right opportunities. Sales targets can be created for each point in your retail network to help you plan efficiently and effectively.

Bespoke Analysis

GMAP can provide insight with our Bespoke Analysis. This could be in addition to our INP, CSS and Sales data capabilities, or as a separate project.

This could encompass any geographical or location analysis, such as CAMEO customer profiling, that can help you gain a better understanding of your business and the market.

Our Products

RetailVision allows you to rank and evaluate retail destinations across the UK, Europe and the world. Built from our comprehensive store locations dataset and internal retail modelling solution. RetailVision estimates centre revenues across Fashion & Comparison, Electrical, Homeware & DIY and Grocery.

MVPLUS is GMAP’s easy-to-use cloud-based Geographical Information System (GIS). You can use this secure mapping and analysis tool to visualise and interact with both licenced and your own data.

Our Data Partners

We are a recognised Solution provider of Royal Mail’s Postcode Address File (PAF). Based from the PAF data, GMAP have created a Store Locations dataset as part of RetailVision that provides extensive coverage of the UK retail landscape.

We are resellers of the DVLA anonymised data set, this includes car registration details such make, model and a partial postcode. This can be purchased as a data set, used in our MVPLUS system or incorporated into your network analysis.

We are a reseller of CAMEO, a comprehensive consumer geodemographic classification with international coverage of over 35 countries. For each country there is a CAMEO country specific segmentation, as well as a universal International CAMEO code enabling uniform comparison globally. In the UK, local area financial, income, property, welfare and unemployment CAMEO segmentations are also available. You can use CAMEO internally, in GMAP projects or in MVPLUS.
