Case Study

IMPACT For an Automotive Group

Enabling an international Automotive Group to self-serve scenarios to support them in optimising their dealer network.

The Challenge

An international Automotive Dealer Group came to GMAP, as they recognised, they needed to make efficiencies in their dealer network. Many of their leases were coming up to renewal so wanted to obtain a location planning strategy to future proof their brand’s presence in the market. They needed a tool in which their property acquisitions teams could run scenarios that used the model to make quick decisions

The Approach

  • GMAP produced an Ideal Network Plan for the client using a bespoke calibrated Spatial Interaction Model (SIM).
  • On delivery, the bespoke calibrated model was built into IMPACT.
  • Key stakeholders on the client-side were provided with training to enable them to self-serve ongoing scenarios

The Conclusion

The project we provided and the IMPACT self-serve tool, has enabled the dealer group to relocate sites, close unviable dealer locations and open new sites in areas of missed opportunity. The easy-of-use of the tool means that it can be used not only by the network planners in the team, but the property team as they consider closing, opening, and relocating sites with opportunities that arise.
